… some people just say it better

by Jalal Al-Din Rumi

Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall.
Walk out like someone suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You’re covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side. Die,
and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign
that you’ve died.
Your old life was a frantic running
from silence.
The speechless full moon
comes out now.

This is for you, my beloved.
For the last time.
I loved you very much.
And a part of me still does. and will forever.
Meeting you, falling in love with you, committing to you, fighting for us and letting us go has been a gift.
And my life has been fuller because of it.
You have shown me that i am capable of compassion and unconditional love.
You have also shown me that silence is very powerful.
For that and so much more, thank you.

But today I say
I claim that you find the happiness you seek, the peace you long for, and yes, that we discover the love we both deserve as we unravel.

I forgive you, my love.
Please forgive me too.

grateful slice: the end of mourning and renewed hearts
